Computer Science undergraduate seeks to put skills and training to work in an entry-level position at your company. Class assignments both team and solo efforts, along with independent projects provide the foundation needed to succeed brilliantly in this position. All class assignments were turned in on time, with, at least, the minimum requirements met, and functioning well.

Projects
For a detailed description of these projects visit the Programming Portfolio at: https://waltwilliams.github.io/portfolio.html   (non-class projects)

  • MyClassicCar – Published Android Application. The star feature of this app is the ability for classic car owners to store manufacture part numbers for difficult to locate parts along with alternate sources. It also tracks maintenance and oil changes.

  • DigiCalc – Published Android Application. A 64 bit, 4 function, binary, octal and hexadecimal calculator. The idea for this app came while furthering my studies of computer architecture. This app will prove useful in those studies. This app makes zero use of Java’s BigInteger or BigDecimal classes.

  • KrypticPython program with TkInter. This is an implementation of synchronous encryption algorithm called the One-Time-Pad. Written for the fun of programming and to learn a language that was, very briefly, introduced in class.

  • ShowTimeC++ and Qt. A slideshow program. The benefit of this project is working with threads and signal-and-slots in C++. The next step is to expand this into a program that will aid in sorting multiple selected folders of photos where duplicates might exist.

  • ← ↑ This Web Site ↓ → – This is not a downloaded template. It is a HTML/CSS template written with a text editor and uses JavaScript in the form of JQuery.

Soft Skills

Collaboration

College provided opportunities for collaboration in that at least five CS class final projects were team projects. Communication and comradery was the key to success of these projects.

Pre-college occupation as a Circuit Board Designer (layout) required interfacing with an Electrical Engineer on ever project.

Talking Points

Academic and independent projects count for at least two years of programming experience.

Experience with MySQL first through the Database Management class then later with my independent projects. SQLite came later.

Linux is my primary operating system. All my class and programming assignments was produced on this system.

All Computer Science class final projects required a PowerPoint presentation in front of the class. Several non-Computer Science classes required academic papers written with Word.
